Rise & Fall (Part I: Fall)

The ashes spread grim before the dawn. Dying embers swirl upward to smoke, A dark shadow across the morning sky, Head low I stare into what smoulders still, Forsaken here I find no strength to cry, No tears to fall upon the ashen wastes, As the light of morning chases the cold,
Shadows weep where flames once danced, Echoes ripple through the empty still, This secret melody for the mourning, Flowing through the tears in my soul, Where once the dreams held a light, Now each note drops like a shard, Falling through the magic I believed,
Bleak the horizon beneath the grey sky,
Dancing silhouettes drift with the winds, Visions of all those memories burnt, Sway with the haunting of a song, As to follow those embers to freedom, Somewhere beyond these shadows, Climb high upon my whispered prayers
,
A rising light falls through the branches, The song lingers in the coming of dawn, As a distant scream ebbs through the low, Reaching out so that I may hear, Deathly in the echoes the sound comes, Crawling like an arachnid in a nightmare, Slow this misery crawls before the light,
Black ash a stain upon my empty hands, All that was falls away into the sound, Like so much sand through an hourglass, Sweeping like hands upon the clock face, That swirling teller of my coming doom, Every heartbeat in its good time, Till I too shall fall to frightful shadow,
Visions flicker like dying stars, Bright against the dark beneath, That horizon that holds my destiny, A cascade of that I needed to see, Spilling through the morning grey, A frightening tide it comes to rise, Breathless I await its lurid embrace,
The scream becomes all there is, Drowning all there is to hear, Truth it crushes like falling stone, As the light rises beyond the black, Me heart tears at my aching bones, Wishing only to be free again, Follow the fall I sink to my knees,
